Tacklebar Football Informational Page
Tacklebar Football is limited contact football. It helps bridge the gap between flag football and full contact football. Tacklebar provides players a belt with two bars in the back, that they wear. Players will learn to get in front, wrap around the ball carriers waist to pull one of the bars to confirm a tackle.
Tacklebar play is customizable, leagues can play 7v7 - 11v11. Field size is at the discretion of the league. We are looking for 60 7/8th grade players, 4 Teams to play full field 11v11. We will customize it as needed.
There is a certain level of commitment that we will be requiring for this level of play. Two 1.5-2 hour practices weekly with one game for up to 10 weeks in the spring. This is targeting players who are looking to play football in high school.
Other then utilizing the Tacklebar belt, equipment is customizable. With the focus of getting players ready for high school football the goal is to provide players with helmet, shoulder pads, and jerseys. Being limited contact players will have the choice to wear short or football pants if they prefer. Equipment is costly to purchase and maintain, we will be asking families to help us fundraise to help keep registration down. Registration will be $200 that covers Insurance, field rentals and referees. At equipment pick up families will bring a check for $500 as deposit, that will be returned once equipment is returned. To utilize the equipment in the fall it will need to go back out for reconditioning as quickly as possible.
Coaches: we are looking for coaches who are committed to the development of all the players in the league. Yes, we want the kids to be competitive but their development is the focus to help them all prepare for high school football.
Schedule is not set in stone: prepare for 2 practices weekly and a game on the weekend. It is going to come down to field availability. This is new to all of us.
